Discover Natchez Food & Wine Festival 2026 Pop Ups

 Where literature and culinary culture meet, Dixon Books will host a unique Natchez Food & Wine Festival pop-up celebrating creativity, conversation, and community. Festival guests will have the opportunity to meet acclaimed chef and cookbook author Toya Boudy, who will be on-site signing copies of her cookbook as well as bloody mary samples. This special event offers the perfect blend of food, storytelling, and local charm, making it a memorable stop during the festival. 

The pop-up is from 11 am to 1 pm and is free to the public.

Learn about Indigenous cooking  at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians.  Rebekah Scott (Natchez/Cherokee/Creek) will give a cooking demonstration on the making of three sister's stew and cornbread.  Corn, beans and squash were traditionally grown together in a complimentary fashion and used to prepare a variety of food dishes.  Dried and stored corn was used to produce corn meal that could be used for a variety of foods, including breads.  

In conjunction with the cooking demonstration, David Comingdeer (Cherokee) will provide a demonstration on how to make a corn pounder.  Corn pounders are traditional hand tools, similar to mortar and pestles, but made of wood.  The mortar is often a hollowed out tree stump, while the pestle is a long stick with club like ends.  Corn pounders are used to crush dried corn to produce a corn meal or flour used to prepare a variety of foods.

The pop-up is from 10 am to 1 pm and is free to the public.
